The Onboz family would like to hear
children, parents, and teachers say: “Arabic is beautiful,”
“Arabic books are wonderful”, “wow, these
books were made here, in Beirut? By people from here?”
“ it’s amazing, I never thought that we produce
in Lebanon such great music”, “this animation
was done by a Lebanese artist, I can’t believe it,”
“I want to become an artist when I grow up”…
The Onboz family would like to see toddlers, children and
youth enjoying and loving Arabic books and parents reading
them to their children.
The Onboz family would like to create connections between
writers, artists, designers, typographers, filmmakers, musicians
and activists who want to contribute in building their society
through a book, a drawing, a song, a photograph, an awareness
campaign, a word, a film, or an animation. We would like
to join forces with anyone who believes that culture and
art is an indispensable tool of growth, strength, and transformation.
The Onboz family believes that by producing we create stronger
structures on which we build our future, and we break the
cycle of apathy and passive consumption.
Hence, Dar Onboz was born from a dream renewing itself with
every project.
Dar Onboz is a platform for critical thinking, development,
and dialogue around
the Arabic language, the presence of Arabic books in all
the stages of our lives, the relationship of the editor
to the reader, the possibility of becoming a writer or an
artist in our society,
Dar Onboz is about infiltrating the written and the visual
media with interesting and intelligent programs.
Dar Onboz is about having workshops with schools and public
libraries around creative writing, illustration, and other
forms of expression.
Dar Onboz is about interacting with parents, listening to
children, and listening to people.
Dar Onboz is seeking to build a house that reinforces free
souls and wide imaginations, a house that celebrates teamwork.
Dar Onboz is the beginning of a childhood journey, living
in us forever. We would like to see our books, music, animations,
films and comics travel from Lebanon to the rest of the
world.
It takes all of us to make this happen.
Join us!
